Frogge Street Frogge Street probably has at least Roman origins. It tracks the edge of the flood plain from the north past the site of a Roman Villa and to the Romano-British settlement at Great Chesterford. The current spelling of Frogge Street perhaps results from a consciousness of a New Elizabethan Age following the accession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. It was formerly called Paddock Street, Paddock being the archaic term for a toad - of which there are many.Thumbnail:
