Hassocks In 1967 the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Ickleton was furnished with beautiful new hassocks. These were designed by Lt. Colonel and Mrs Bristowe and embroidered during 1965, 1966 and 1967 by a group of villagers and friends who had links with the village. The designs illustrate much of the history of the village and amongst them can be seen memorials to its earliest inhabitants as well as records of prioresses, nuns, vicars, churchwardens and families prominent in Ickleton life throughout the centuries.
This album contains photos of the hassocks and the pages of the book in the Church which shows the design of each hassock and the person who worked it, followed by a few photos of an exhibition of the hassocks held in 1967 at the home of Lt. Colonel and Mrs Bristowe (Brookhampton Hall) on their completion.Thumbnail:
