Ickleton Society Walk 5 May 2014
The May 2014 walk had a theme of 'Finding Ickleton's Lost Roads'. With the very kind permission of our local farmers, the route took us over Rectory Farm land crossing and along tracks shown on the 1795 map of the open fields. We crossed Five Furlong Balk and Three Pin Joint although nothing remains of them. We then walked quite a stretch of the Dell or Hard Way through Rectory Farm yard, where we stopped for a picnic, and then through Abbey Farm land. If it were not for the motorway, we would have been able to walk back to Duxford Road and the stretch of the Dell Way that continues to Cemetery Corner.
