Walter Carder a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice in WW1 Walter Carder was a professional soldier and served in the 2nd Boer War. He was then a reservist and, in WW1, enlisted in the 11th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment in which he served as a Sergeant. On 13 September 1917 he was killed by a German shell in a front line trench.
